Will My Main Domain Rank Above The G-Site And Sub Domain For Targeted Keywords?

In episode 146 of Semantic Mastery's weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one viewer asked if a main domain ranks above the G-Site and sub domain if it contains the original content and holds canonical power.

The exact question was:

Hi Heroes,

I need your guidance here,
I have a Main domain and a Sub.domain,
now Sub.domain give Rel Canonical to Main Domain's Silo pages
and Every post of Sub.Domain is Mirrored in a GSite (that is all posts replicated on GSite), and GSite has no connection to Main domain whatsoever
So, In this scenario will Main Domain Rank above GSite and Sub.Domain for targeted key-terms or not.
Does this holds any power…I'm onto it, but need your guidance.
