In episode 103 of Semantic Mastery’s weekly Hump Day Hangouts, one viewer asked what must be done to old pages when redirecting a site. He also wanted to know how to inform Google of address changes.
The exact question was:
When redirecting a site, what should be done about the privacy page, about us, disclosure, tables and library images at the old domain? Redirect them over or just leave them?
After redirecting, I could not use the “inform Google of address change” function inside of Search Console as it needed the old home page to exist and I have already redirected it. I instead used the Fetch as Google and then Index the page button. Is this a good idea and can I do that for all redirected pages (it would be only 10 pages). Thanks.
